Welcome to PED Cambodia
Partnership for Environment and Development Organization (PED) is a new local non-governmental organization established on 26th February 2024 by a group of frontline activists in Cambodia. Our mission is to expand public participation in environmental protection, promote freedom of expression, and defend environmental and human rights activists. Although we are a new organization, our experience and contributions to society have been widely recognized by local and international media and civil society organizations since the start of our youth movement in 2018.
PED's role is to connect existing youth groups to build a stronger collective voice to stop deforestation and unsustainable development projects that harm our environment and local communities. In the context of shrinking civic space and the decline of democracy, we also work to promote freedom of expression by providing training to urban youth and university students on their fundamental rights, media and advocacy skills, as well as digital and physical security. Additionally, we document the profiles and backgrounds of human rights and environmental activists who sacrifice their time and energy for the better future of our society.
